Hikkaduwa is one of the most developed surf tourist towns, originally a fishing village now – busy for surfing and scuba diving are the main attractions. Some good night life if you are after a party. There are a number of local breaks and waves can be 3ft to 10ft when they are working.

Benny’s – left hander, reef break – works well over 6ft and for experienced surfers
Main Reef – left and right handers – deep reef so relatively safe
North Jetty – long lefts, reef break by the harbour wall
Beach Break – sand and reef shore break – safe and great for beginners

DAY 04: HIKKADUWA – KABALANA – MIDIGAMA – WELIGAMA
Breakfast at hotel.
Proceed to the Weligama.
Enroute to Weligama, visit Kabalana (The Rock – Surf Point) which is an amazing surfing spot along the south coast.
Surfing equipment & packages can be purchased/rented directly depending on the requirement of the clients.
Kabalana Main Surf Point or The Rock as its is also known, is reputed to be the best A-Frame reef break in Sri Lanka.
Generally it has good power, left and rights with a fast ride of around 400m. Kabalana is more a short board wave,
South Beach Point just north is better for long-boards.

Thereafter visit Midigama (Lazy Left Surf Break) another surfing point that can be enjoyed along the way. Surfing equipment & packages can be purchased/rented directly depending on the requirement of the clients. Lazy Left as it’s name suggests is a mellow left hand wave on a deep reef that holds to 5-6ft on a good day. You can get some really long rides up to 500m on this one and its mostly a deep reef so fairly forgiving. Great for intermediate surfers and advanced with a big swell. Perfect first reef break if you are a beginner as it is generally a very predictable wave. Lazy’s works best at low tide so in reverse to most of the other breaks in the region. Good news if your goofy and a late riser. Evening sessions tend to be busy.

DAY 05: WELIGAMA
Breakfast at hotel
Head to beach in Weligama & enjoy the waves.
Surfing equipment & packages can be purchased/rented directly depending on the requirement of the clients. Weligama, translated as sandy village, is a great place to learn to surf, about a two kilometre stretch of shallow sandy beach. One of the best places in south Sri Lanka to discover a connection with the ocean and catch your first wave. Get there for first light and surf till sunrise, it usually quiet until 8am so a good time to practice on uncontended waves. The bay is protected somewhat from the wind, if the rest of the coast is blown it can be better here. 400m ride on a slow, low power wave. Many lefts and rights that appear at different tides the best swell from the south west. Easily be surfed when small, holds up to 5ft. A big swell on a beginners break is kook carnage with boards flying everywhere, very entertaining to watch.

DAY 06: WELIGAMA – MIRISSA – WELIGAMA
Breakfast at hotel
Proceed to Mirissa & hit the waves along the beach.
Surfing equipment & packages can be purchased/rented directly depending on the requirement of the clients. Mirissa is a beautiful crescent shaped, sandy beach surrounded by palm trees. You can surf a low power right-hander over reef break near the rocks and a left-hander near the harbor. Works really well with a good swell up to 6ft, however check the local tides as the reef can become shallow when the tide is out. Head back to Weligama & relax by the beach.
